Le Poët-Célard: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

Le Poët-Célard, with its Château du Poët-Célard, is situated on a rocky promontory opposite the Couspeau mountain range. The village’s medieval streets climb up to the restored château. La calade is the restored ascent to Château du Poët-Célard and offers a very beautiful panorama.

Culture

The Domaine du Château de Saint-André has been classified as a historic monument since March 11, 2003. The protected ensemble includes the remains of the surrounding wall with the north tower and terraces, the stables, the dovecote, the enclosure, the well, and the vegetable garden with its washhouse.

In 1574, Château du Poët-Célard was among the places captured by the Huguenot captain Montbrun. The restored château houses an accommodation establishment and a restaurant.

The Ancien temple in Le Poët-Célard was inaugurated in 1847, decommissioned in 1975, and subsequently sold to private individuals.

Château Saint-André is a noble estate inhabited by Huguenots that was built and rebuilt at the end of the 16th century. According to tradition, Calvin is said to have visited Château Saint-André in September 1561.

Château Saint-André is privately owned, is currently being restored, and cannot be visited. The interior of Château du Poët-Célard is also not open to visitors.

Trails and Landscape

The Bois de Vache hiking route begins in Le Poët-Célard and passes by Château Saint-André. A regional Protestant gathering takes place annually at Bois de Vache on the second Sunday in August.
