The Chapelle du Vieux Bourg is a seigneurial chapel built between 1610 and 1612. It is currently considered the oldest surviving testimony to the history of Saint-Didier-de-Formans. On the hill of Vieux Bourg, the substructures of an 11th-century castle have also been preserved. A section of the wall of the former church is incorporated into today’s Chapelle du Vieux Bourg. Restoration of the chapel was completed on 12 April 2025.
Culture and History
The Monument de Roussille is also connected to the history of the town. It was inaugurated on 16 June 1946 in memory of the massacre of 28 patriots by the German Special Division and contains a bas-relief by the sculptor André Tajana. In 2017, the Monument de Roussille was completely renovated.
At the Roussille commemoration ceremony, Marc Bloch, a prominent figure of the Resistance, was honoured. The commemoration ceremony for the Roussille tragedy took place for the 82nd time.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Saint-Didier-de-Formans can plan their stay individually.
