Culture

At the Manoir de Malmont, visitors can see a permanent exhibition about the period in which it was built, its architectural features and the noble family that commissioned its construction.

The mills are also notable historic attractions. The Moulin de la Galope operated as a grain mill until 1940. It is considered the oldest mill in the village of Curciat-Dongalon and was probably built in the 18th century. The Moulin de la Galope, the Moulin des Vernays and the Moulin de Fuseret are located along the tourist circular route “la Farandole des Moul'Ain”.

The Moulin des Vernays can only be viewed from the outside and consists of elongated brick and half-timbered buildings. The Moulin de Fuseret is located on the Sâne Vive along the road between Saint-Trivier-de-Courtes and Saint-Nizier-le-Bouchoux.

Festivals and Cuisine

The Banquet des classes et les matefaims takes place on the first weekend of March. It includes a procession from the town hall square to the war memorial, accompanied by the Fanfare of the Union musicale. The following Sunday afternoon, crêpes are prepared for everyone to try.

The Fête de l'andouillette traditionally takes place on the first weekend of July. At this festival, andouillettes are cooked in wood-fired ovens and served at tables under a marquee. The Vide-grenier de la Varna is free for visitors. The Fête de la pêche combines a fishing competition with carp goujonnettes.

Fishing Waters

Curciat-Dongalon has two fishing waters of the “plans d’eau fédéraux” type, managed by the local fishing association. L'étang du Pont de la Varna is a 2-hectare pond.
