During a self-guided tour of the Royal Monastery of Brou, visitors can see the church, the Museum of Fine Arts and the three cloisters. Construction began in 1506; its features include glazed roof tiles and a stone rood screen separating the nave from the choir.
The Co-Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Bourg-en-Bresse was built between 1505 and 1696. The Porte des Jacobins is a 15th-century gateway from the former Dominican monastery and has been protected as a historic monument since 24 August 1927.
Bourg-en-Bresse has preserved medieval half-timbered houses and town mansions from the 17th and 18th centuries, including the Hôtel Marron de Meillonnas. At the Apothicairerie de l’hôtel-Dieu, visitors can see a preserved laboratory, a back room and an apothecary shop with Louis XV wood panelling, as well as a collection of faience and bottles.
Micro-Folie Bourg-en-Bresse is a cultural venue with a digital museum, a FabLab and the Little Café; it also has a virtual reality area. The Théâtre de Bourg-en-Bresse offers programmes featuring circus, puppet theatre, theatre, dance, music, public talks, participatory projects and exhibitions.
Getting Around
The 10 km Vélo-promenade entre ville & nature is a circular cycling route that starts at the Bourg-en-Bresse tourist office.

Parc de loisirs de Bouvent includes a fitness and orienteering course, a children's play area and picnic areas. In Jardin des Quinconces, symmetrically arranged flower beds lie in front of a 19th-century kiosk.
Parc de la Visitation is an urban woodland surrounding a hill topped by a single column.
