Culture and history

The Chapelle Saint-Vérédème is a Romanesque chapel dating from the 11th century; by decree of 16 October 1906, it was classified as a historic monument. The Chapelle des Pénitents blancs was built in the 19th century on the former site of the original Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church and its cemetery. Its single-nave structure has three bays, and the transverse arches are built of dressed stone.

The Chapelle Saint-Pierre-de-Vence was probably built towards the end of the 11th century. It has a simple barrel-vaulted nave; its choir has a so-called cul-de-four apse. The remains of the Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Anges are located on a rocky hill in the Cadenières district of Eyguières. The Fontaine Cocotte has been classified as a historic monument since 1923. The Chapelle Saint-Roch contains murals by Albert Martin dating from 1964.

Local traditions

The pilgrimage to Saint-Marc has taken place again every year in Eyguières on 25 April since the 1980s. It includes a mass traditionally celebrated in Provençal, the blessing of navettes and the blessing of the fields.
