Culture

Menton’s remarkable and well-preserved architectural and botanical heritage combines Gallo-Roman, Mediterranean, and Renaissance elements. This heritage earned the city the “Ville d’Art et d’Histoire” designation in 1991.

The Vieux Château cemetery can be reached via narrow stairways and offers panoramic views over the entire Bay of Menton.

The Serre de la Madone garden was designed by Major Lawrence Johnston between 1919 and 1939. The Serre de la Madone offers guided tours in French at 3 p.m. on all days it is open.

The Serre de la Madone conservatory garden in Menton was created in the Vallon de Gorbio around an enlarged former farm and was intended for plants brought from East Asia or Africa.

Plage Rondelli is located in front of the port of Garavan in Menton. The small sandy beach offers views of the old town, is easily accessible via the adjoining large car park, and is particularly suitable for families.

The Route du Citron begins in Menton at the Tourist Office in the Palais de l’Europe, 8 avenue Boyer. It offers opportunities to meet producers and artisans of the IGP-certified Menton lemon.
