Aubignosc is home to the permanent, highly technical orienteering course Le Pas des Boeufs. Those who choose Aubignosc as a destination may perhaps want to rent a holiday apartment there.
Nature
The state-owned Forêt domaniale du Prieuré forest is located partly in the municipality of Aubignosc. The municipal area is also structured by the Durance, as well as by the Riou and its branches; both water systems shape the landscape. The Montagne de Lure offers views over the entire municipal area of Aubignosc. The extensive transport infrastructure that has shaped the area includes the N85.
Activities
Controls are placed at characteristic terrain features along the Le Pas des Boeufs course. Participants are expected to find them alone or in groups. For mountain bikes, the VTT stage from Aubignosc to the col des Pénitents is 23 km long, has 550 m of positive and 310 m of negative elevation gain, takes 2 hours 30 minutes, and is classified as Green–V2 difficulty. The stage starts in Aubignosc and ends at the col des Pénitents.
The Chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route also runs along a 7.5 km section between Aubignosc and Châteauneuf-Val-Saint-Donat.
Culture
The Saint-Julien church stands at the foot of the hill of the former castle of Aubignosc, near a spring and a historic road. The Saint-Julien priory in Aubignosc was dependent on Cruis Abbey. A year displayed above the door of the Saint-Julien church probably indicates a renovation in 1662.
In 1754, the chapel of Forest became a subsidiary church of the Saint-Julien church in Aubignosc. In 1689, a chaplain celebrated Mass in the chapel in the hamlet of Forest.
Cuisine
Miellerie Maccario produces lavender honey with the “Miel de Provence” PGI designation and the Label Rouge quality mark. Visitors can also learn about the world of bees and transhumant beekeeping there. Les Sens de Violette’s products include sunflower oil.
