Chaunay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Historically, Chaunay has been a place people pass through. The municipality is located at the meeting point of the Vienne, Charente and Deux-Sèvres départements. The N10 provides easy and fast access to Chaunay and its surroundings.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Chaunay can include the local landmarks of Saint-Pierre and the Calvary in their search.
Culture and History
One prominent building is the Saint-Pierre church. It is a Romanesque building dating from the 11th century, constructed over the ruins of an earlier Merovingian church. Inside, Saint-Pierre has three eastern bays with ribbed vaults, which doubled the length of the original building.
The Camp de Près-de-Casseron provides evidence of human settlement in Chaunay since the Neolithic period. A considerably more recent religious trace can be found in Rue du Calvaire: the Calvary in Chaunay is a religious monument dating from 1914, with six cast-iron statues arranged around its cross.
Things to Do
The Prix cycliste de la Renaissance reached its 16th edition. In 2025, it included a 10-kilometre circuit through Chaunay, including along the Grand Rue, Les Grandes Boisnes, the banks of the Sénillé and Rue du Calvaire.
There is a charging station for electric vehicles in the centre of Chaunay. The motorhome site is located in the town centre at Place du Marché and offers water, electricity, sanitary facilities, a wastewater disposal point and a chemical toilet disposal point.
