Culture

The Church of Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais has a 12th-century portal. Its features also include “La Vierge à l'enfant (Madone)”, a 70 cm-high wooden statue from the 17th century. The “Pierre aux quatre divinités” is the best-preserved evidence of the Gallo-Roman presence in the area of Champagné-Saint-Hilaire. The “Sur les pas d’André Léo” walking trail also connects the route with literature: along the way, information panels display excerpts from “Un mariage scandaleux”.

The Écuries du Moulin de Chaume offer horseback and pony rides as well as carriage rides. Haras Prestige Events offers guided walks with a Poitou donkey loaded with panniers. Maps of 46 hiking routes are available from the Champagné-Saint-Hilaire town hall and the Gençay canton tourist office.
