In Amberre lie the Falunières de Moulin Pochas, a former quarry where shell sands, known as faluns, were extracted. The soils once exposed there now support natural vegetation in the form of dry, orchid-rich poor grasslands; the Falunières are considered a unique testimony to the Faluns Sea in Poitou.
