Échallat: Holiday apartments and houses

The Saint-Maurice priory in Échallat was founded at the beginning of the 12th century.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Maurice has been protected as a historic monument since 1986. The Lavoir d'Échallat was rebuilt in 1845; the municipality restored it in 1996. It contains a large two-part stone washbasin.

The Logis du Prieur is the only surviving building of the medieval priory complex southeast of the Church of Saint-Maurice. It has an arcaded gallery and a slightly projecting stair tower with a spiral staircase. The Logis du Prieur was rebuilt in the 17th or 18th century on older foundations.

Between the 15th and 18th centuries, Échallat was located on the former postal road between Paris and Bordeaux.
