Culture
The Porte Saint-Pierre is a gateway with a pointed-arch opening, flanked on the outside by two massive semicircular towers. It has been listed in the register of historic monuments since 19 September 1928 and is accessible every day throughout the year.
The Church of Saint Martin was originally built as a chapel of the donjon known as the Tour de Ganne. It stands on a hill and is separated from the former oppidum by Rue de l'Église. The chapel associated with it later became the parish church.
According to a local legend, Ganelon took refuge in the fortress of Tonnay-Boutonne; Charlemagne is said to have captured him and thrown him into the donjon's well.
