Geay lies between the Charente and the Bruant rivers. The village has preserved its rural character through the cultivation of wheat, maize and sunflowers, as well as sheep and cattle farming.

Culture and History
The Château de Geay was partially listed as a historic monument on 31 December 1986. The protected parts include the façades, roofs, the staircase of the main residential building, a ground-floor fireplace and the dovecote complex. The château is privately owned and is not open to visitors.
The Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Geay is considered one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in the Saintonge region. It has a deep polygonal choir with three superimposed tiers of arcades. Traces on the outside of its apse indicate a painted mourning band; this arrangement is unusual.
Hiking and Cycling
“Les bois, le bocage et le marais autour de Geay” is a 9.28-kilometre hike in Geay. The route passes through woodland and bocage landscape and runs alongside the marshland. It can also be completed by mountain bike. One section of the route follows the Flow Vélo cycle path, which runs from Sarlat to Île d’Aix.
