Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Pierre was originally the chapel of the Récollets brothers' monastery and became the parish church during the Revolution. In 1900, it was given a new bell tower.

The washhouse in Archiac was formerly a watering place for herds from the surrounding area. In the 19th century, the washhouse was built next to the former watering place; the spring was protected by a small stone building. The Rue basse is considered the oldest street in Archiac.

The Maison de la Vigne et des Saveurs presents, through an exhibition, the history of winegrowing, crus and grape varieties, the life cycle of the vine, the production of Pineau and Cognac, as well as the professions of winegrowing and cooperage. During its opening hours, it offers a free self-guided visit. By reservation, a 1-hour-15-minute guided tour in French followed by a tasting is also available.
