Woignarue: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Geographical location
The seaside resort of Onival is located mainly in Ault and partly in the neighbouring municipality of Woignarue.
Woignarue has access to the sea.
The centre of Woignarue is located in the eastern part of the municipality on a chalk plateau.
West of the village, the eroded former cliff, known as the “falaise morte”, merges into the Bas-Champs; the alluvial soils are separated from the English Channel by a broad natural shingle ridge.
Nature
The wetlands of the Bas-Champs, also known as the Hâble d’Ault, lie below sea level; a shingle ridge 80 metres wide separates them from the sea.
The Hâble d’Ault marks the end of the cliffs and the mouth of the Baie de Somme.
The Hâble d’Ault contains a protected nature reserve in which more than 270 species have been recorded.
The Camping d’Onival in Woignarue offers numerous pitches just a few metres from the beach.
Culture
The Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine has a Flamboyant-style choir that rises above the lower nave.
The Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine is associated with a stained-glass window created by Saint Valery depicting Saint Blimond.
Routes
The circular Le Camp du Roi route passes through the plains of Picardy and typical villages of the Vimeu.
On the section of the Le Camp du Roi route in Woignarue, the path leads from the Église de Woignarue towards the stadium and then turns right.
The Vanneau cycle circuit begins in Woignarue and leads towards the Baie de Somme.
The return route along the Hâble d’Ault is more winding, considerably more pleasant and equipped with several observation posts.
