Estrées-Lès-Crécy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Estrées-lès-Crécy has been known since the 13th century. In 1251, Thibault d’Amiens and Marie d’Estrées founded a chapel and a presbytery there; the original chapel was dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The choir and transept were built in the 16th and 17th centuries and are listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. After the vaults in the choir and transept were secured in 2015–2016, the nave could be reopened to the public so that religious services could resume.

Culture

At the junction of Rue d’en Haut, Rue de Crécy and Rue Fontaine stands a brick chapel with a slate roof. Above its door is a niche containing a statue of the Virgin Mary.

The Croix du Roi de Bohème symbolises the Battle of Crécy. It is made of tuff, a soft and porous rock formed by deposits of spring water. In Ponthieu, it is one of the two tuff crosses identified there.

The Monument aux morts de 1914-1918 is a painted cast-iron obelisk with a truncated top.

Landscape

Estrées-lès-Crécy is located in the Parc naturel régional Baie de Somme - Picardie maritime. The area around the village is gently hilly.

Villagescape

The village is characterised by broad built-up plots on its outskirts. Between them lies a central area that is planted with greenery or used as pasture. The former national road D938 runs along the southern side of the village.
