The Church of Saint-Denis in Courtemont-Varennes is built in the Gothic style and was constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries. By decree of 25 April 1941, the church was classified as a historic monument.

History
A total of 63 French soldiers fell in Courtemont-Varennes during the fighting in June 1940. A small military cemetery was established near the church in 1941. The soldiers exhumed from local war graves were reburied there.
A memorial stele belonging to the “Aisne Terre de Mémoire” network was inaugurated at this site on 11 June 2026.
