History
For centuries, life in L’Oie revolved around the castle of the Château de l’Hébergement-Hydreau.
The Château de l’Hébergement-Hydreau was the setting for important events during the Vendée Wars.
The establishment of fairs towards the end of the 18th century increased the importance of the hamlet of L’Oie. In 1789, the monthly fairs in Vendrennes were moved to the vicinity of the new Château du Fougerais.
The fairs in L’Oie, which had grown greatly in importance during the 19th century, were officially discontinued in 1955.
