Culture

The statue of Saint Loup of Troyes is protected as a movable monument; its designation as a protected monument is dated 18 July 1908. It was very probably created by a local sculptor in the first half of the 18th century.

The two altars, with their altarpieces, very probably date from the mid-18th century. They are very probably attributed to a workshop from Le Mans and are made of limestone. Each niche in the altarpieces contains a polychrome terracotta statue.

The residential building of the Château de Bois-Pincé, dating from the late 15th century, was flanked by two unequal wings, each with a tower at its end. The wings probably date from the late 16th or early 17th century. The Château de Bois-Pincé was presumably modernised or rebuilt. Only the right wing of the 17th-century Château de Bois-Pincé, the cellars of the former residence and remnants of the old staircase have survived.

Geographical setting

Savigné-sous-le-Lude is located on the historic road known as the old route from Orléans to Bordeaux. The village lies in the former province of Anjou.
