Culture and History

The Cérémonie de la Brosse takes place every year on the first Sunday in July at the memorial stele. At the boundary between the municipalities of Lusanger and Sion-les-Mines lies the Alignement de la Grée Galot, a megalithic site with aligned menhirs.

The Menhir de Pierre Pin, also known as Pierre des Huguenots, is listed as a historic monument. The Menhir de la Grée à Midi is classified as a historic monument. The megalithic monument La Roche à la Bergère is also classified as a historic monument.

The Saint-Eloi chapel is one of the components of the former Forge de la Hunaudière, which were protected as historic monuments by a decree dated July 6, 1987. The Forges de la Hunaudière operated as a metallurgical site from the mid-16th century until 1882.

The Monument de la Brosse commemorates the Maquisards who were murdered by Germans on the night of July 10–11, 1944.

Crafts and Sightseeing

The live demonstration Art de la Fonderie at the Forges de la Hunaudière includes casting molten metal, in bronze or aluminum depending on the current production.

The approximately four-century-old Moulin du Pont Godalin has preserved its equipment as a watermill and continues to produce buckwheat flour. A self-guided visit includes the old mill and its outbuildings, the mill grounds, the waterwheel, and a mill museum with a film, slideshow, and exhibition.

Paths and Nature

The Sentier du Tour de l'Étang de la Hunaudière initially leads through oak and beech woodland and then along the banks of the pond, where hikers may be able to spot grey herons, great crested grebes, and mallards.

The Sentier de Sion à la Hunaudière is an easy 16.4-kilometer hiking trail with a walking time of approximately 4 hours and yellow waymarking.

The Sentier des Mines is an easy 12.7-kilometer hiking trail with a walking time of approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes; both the start and finish are in Sion-les-Mines.

The Sentier du Tour de l'Étang de la Hunaudière is a 6-kilometer walking route with a walking time of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and yellow waymarking.
