Nature
Parc Montsouris is a 15-hectare green space with artificially created hilly terrain on the site of a former quarry.
Access to the Paris Catacombs is exclusively via a staircase: 131 steps lead down and 112 lead back up. The visitor route is 1,500 metres long and reaches 20 metres underground.
Culture
The Paris Observatory was founded in 1667 and has been in continuous operation for more than 350 years. The historic building is aligned with the four cardinal directions and was designed by Claude Perrault.
Cimetière du Montparnasse opened on 25 July 1824. It contains 1,200 trees from 40 different species; it is also the final resting place of numerous figures from politics and, in particular, the arts.
The Moulin de la Charité can only be viewed from the outside.
