Bonsecours: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Basilique Notre-Dame in Bonsecours stands at one of the pilgrimage sites dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is one of the first churches in France to be built in the Neo-Gothic style. Those who choose Bonsecours for a stay can make plans to rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

The Basilique Notre-Dame and its surrounding railings were fully protected as historic monuments by decree of 24 August 2004. It is open continuously from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

The Joan of Arc Monument stands on the esplanade of the Basilique Notre-Dame de Bonsecours and overlooks the Seine Valley. Inside it is a 2-metre-high statue of Saint Joan of Arc, created by the sculptor Louis Ernest Barrias. The Joan of Arc Monument was erected in Bonsecours because there was not enough space for it in Rouen.

Because of its weight, the 7-ton bell was not installed in the basilica. An imposing 7-ton bell stands on the esplanade of the basilica near the cemetery; it was installed in 1892 in honour of Cardinal Thomas and rings every Saturday and Monday.

History

The Côte Sainte-Catherine archaeological site is partly located in the municipality of Bonsecours and was registered as a historic monument by decree of 14 January 1993. It includes the remains of the Priory of Saint Michael, the Abbaye de la Trinité du Mont, also known as Sainte-Catherine, as well as the old and new Sainte-Catherine forts.

Walks and views

The Colline Sainte-Catherine – Panorama de Rouen offers a complete view of Rouen and its two banks. The Chemin du tramway, which still exists today, is used for walks in Bonsecours.

The École Municipale de Musique offers the public numerous concerts, shows, and performances.
