Culture and History

The Logis de l'Evêque is a municipal hôtel particulier from the 17th century with a main façade dating from the 16th century. Materials from an earlier building, constructed between 1319 and 1356, were used for this façade. The Logis de l'Evêque is partially protected as a historic monument.

The Notre-Dame du Rosaire church was the former chapel of La Perrière's now-vanished fortress. Its bell tower rests on the foundations of a castle tower. Since 1979, La Perrière has been protected by a Zone de protection du patrimoine architectural, urbain et paysager (ZPPAUP), which was converted in 2016 into an Aire de mise en valeur de l'architecture et du patrimoine (AVAP).

Outside the town centre stands the tower of the 16th-century Château de Monthimer. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1975.

Nature and Trails

At the western end of La Perrière lies the Site de l'Éperon. A footpath runs there along the so-called “coniche”. The Site de l'Éperon offers remarkable panoramas over the Sarthe département.

The 11-kilometre circular trail Le Chêne de l'École starts in La Perrière. The family-friendly heritage game Rando Jeu Bellême, La Perrière et Ceton also passes through the town. Participants walk through the village streets, answer questions and solve puzzles; the game also takes them through La Perrière.

Getting There and Events

La Perrière can be reached by bicycle, on foot and by car. The l’Art à la Perrière festival takes place at Pentecost and presents the work of contemporary artists. The Fête du Rosaire takes place on the first Sunday in October and includes a large flea market in the streets of La Perrière.
