The present-day Château de La Ferté-Frênel was built between 1865 and 1867 by the Parisian architect Storez for the Marquis de Montaut.

The château estate is listed as a Monument historique. The protection covers the château with its interior furnishings, the façades and roofs of the former manor house, the dovecote, the washhouse, and the park features including moats, bridges, a pond, avenues, woods, flowerbeds, walls, and balustrades.
Another protected historical monument is located in Le Bocage in La Ferté-Frênel: The dolmen was classified as a Monument historique by a decree dated 14 April 1944.
The Manoir du Bois Hébert, a château, is located in the area around La Ferté-Frênel. The Abbaye Saint-Evroult-Notre-Dame-du-Bois, a historical site, is also nearby. The wider region includes the Château de Fervaques, a château, and the Abbaye de la Trappe, a monastery.
