A prominent landmark in Pirou is the Château de Pirou: the castle was built in the 12th century on an artificial island and has three moats and five fortified gates. Since 1968, the Château de Pirou has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments and sites.
When visiting the Château de Pirou, visitors can see the bakery, the cider press, the old dwelling house and the ramparts. From spring to autumn, the complete embroidery can be viewed in the Plaids Room. It depicts the conquest of Sicily and southern Italy by Norman lords.
The Chapelle Saint-Michel, also known as the Chapelle des Marins, is located in Pirou-Plage. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the recreational sailors who visited the beach. The first mass in the chapel was celebrated by Abbé Orvin on 24 June 1926; on 13 August 1928, it was blessed by Mgr Louvard, Bishop of Coutances.

Nature

Hiking
A section of the GR®223 begins in the centre of Pirou and leads via Pirou-Pont to the Château de Pirou. The GR®223 continues towards Pirou-Plage, along the sea wall and then through the dunes.
The section of the GR®223 from Pirou-Pont to Coutainville-Plage is a moderately difficult 20.0 km hike with a walking time of approximately five hours. The “Donjon et moulin de Pirou” hike is a yellow-marked, moderately difficult circular walking route covering 10.7 km and taking approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Coast and Local Traditions
At Pirou-Plage, visitors can swim depending on the tides or fish on foot along the seashore. Several oyster and mussel farmers in Pirou-Plage sell their products directly.
The Foire aux Bulots was established in 1996. It takes place every year on a weekend at the end of April in Pirou-Plage and includes the sale of seafood by professional vendors as well as a regional terroir market.
