Culture and history
The Notre-Dame de Lyre Abbey was founded in La Vieille-Lyre in 1046 by Guillaume Fitz Osbern and Adelize. The abbey building and an enclosing wall of Notre-Dame de Lyre Abbey are still visible. Notre-Dame de Lyre Abbey owned several farms in the parish.
The Église Saint-Pierre is a 13th-century parish church that was restored at the end of the 19th century. It contains a 16th-century recumbent effigy of Adelise de Tosny, the co-founder of the monastery. A stained-glass window depicts the Virgin Mary, the infant Jesus and Joseph in a rare arrangement.
