The history of Damville Castle dates back to the 11th century. Around 1035, it was built under the rule of William the Conqueror; moats fed by the Iton surrounded it. The present-day streets Rue de la Citadelle and Rue des Remparts recall Damville’s former fortified enclosure.

In the town centre, the remains of Damville’s feudal motte bear witness to its identity as an 11th-century Norman fortress. Damville’s historic market hall was rebuilt in 1859.

Fest’Iton takes place over a weekend at the beginning of July in Damville as a street performance festival. Fest’Iton features aerial acrobatics, stilt walkers, music, juggling and street theatre.
