Andé: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Moulin d’Andé is now a Centre culturel de rencontre and preserves its historic mill technology. This half-timbered mill with a suspended wheel stands on a side branch of the Seine and is protected as a historic monument.

Culture

The Moulin d’Andé preserves its original mechanism and is the last surviving example of a “suspended mill” on the Seine. The mill is also home to the Centre des Ecritures Cinématographiques (CECI), which offers residencies for French and international filmmakers.

History

The parish church of Notre-Dame in Andé is located in a protected area registered in 1974. It preserves the lower section of the church mentioned in 1207. The roof structure of the nave may partly date from the 16th century; the building was renovated between 1676 and 1689, and the sacristy was added in the 19th century.

Nature

The Parc du Moulin d’Andé covers 15 hectares and stretches from the banks of the Seine to the upper edge of the hillside. A viewpoint offers views of the river and its meanders. The park includes rock gardens, kiosks and viewing pavilions; it has been registered as a historic monument since 16 May 2008.

The Moulin d’Andé can be visited on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The opening hours for the Parc du Moulin d’Andé on Saturdays are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Events

More than a hundred concerts and performances take place at the Moulin d’Andé throughout the year. In spring, the Moulin d’Andé hosts the Alexandre Paley Festival; for one week, the program features recitals and chamber music concerts.
