Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Sulpice preserves Romanesque architectural remains made from locally sourced Grison stone. It also houses a restored 16th-century organ with two keyboards and sixteen stops. Protected as a historic monument, the church is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Tour Carrée is a remnant of Breteuil’s former fortifications dating from the 12th century. Breteuil Town Hall was built in 1840 based on the model of the former Hôtel-Dieu. A weekly market takes place on the central Place Laffitte on Wednesday mornings.

The Musée Vie et Métiers d'Autrefois displays more than 7,000 old tools and objects related to folk art. During a guided tour, the museum presents more than 38 occupations from the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Musée Vie et Métiers d'Autrefois offers activity booklets for children aged 3 to 6, 7 to 11, and 12 to 16. A treasure hunt in the style of an escape game is available there by prior reservation.
