Culture and History
Saint-Marcouf can be discovered through its church and the testimonies preserved there. The Saint-Marcouf-du-Rochy church has Romanesque origins and was built from the 11th century onwards. The wall at the end of the choir features 14th-century murals that are protected as a historical monument.
The cemetery contains a distinctive sandstone gravestone that may date from the late 12th or 13th century. The church also contains a former high altar retable from the 18th century with Ionic pilasters, Rococo-style wings and a central depiction of the Resurrection.
