The Church of Sainte-Anne preserves 11th-century herringbone masonry, Romanesque round-arched arcades and the walls of its side aisles. Its square tower is topped with a slate spire. The 12th-century wall paintings include a depiction of the Virgin presenting her Child to the Three Magi for adoration, as well as Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
Culture
The choir of Sainte-Anne contains a remarkable stained-glass window from the 1240s, reassembled in 1874 from various parts. It depicts the Visitation and Saint Margaret of Antioch emerging from the dragon’s belly. On 9 February 1925, the stained-glass window was classified as a protected historic object.
The parish church of Notre-Dame in Norrey-en-Auge houses a set of four figurative stained-glass windows depicting Saint Augustine, Saint George, Saint Louis, Saint Henry and Saint Evroult. One of these windows depicts Saint Evroult founding his monastery.
Three bas-reliefs depict the Annunciation, the Adoration of the Shepherds and the Adoration of the Three Magi. They were classified as protected historic objects on 25 January 1927.
History
The manor belonged to the Brasdefer family in the 18th century. A manor house visible in Norrey-en-Auge was built in the 17th century. The Motte cadastrale de la Baronnie is a visible monument in Norrey-en-Auge. Among the last remains of the abbey is the Grange aux Dîmes, a tithe barn dating from the 16th century.
