La Folie: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The oldest surviving parts of the Église Saint-Pierre date back to the Romanesque period. The church’s current appearance is the result of a reconstruction in the 15th and 16th centuries. The tower dates from the 15th century, and the façade from the 18th century.
Culture and History
Before the Revolution, the municipality was called Saint-Pierre-de-la-Folye. During a Romanesque-style restoration of the Église Saint-Pierre in the 19th century, some walls with herringbone patterns were destroyed, among other things.
The historic Fumichon coalfield was located in the territory of Bernesq, La Folie and Saint-Martin-de-Blagny. It was mined from 1845 to 1880 and again from 1941 to 1950. The Fumichon mining concession extended across La Folie and Saint-Martin-de-Blagny.
La Folie’s local heritage buildings include the Château de la Bretonnière and the Ferme-manoir du Haut-Manoir, also known as Vaumanoir.
