To the south of Gonneville-sur-Mer are the hilly, green bocage landscapes typical of the Pays d’Auge. To the north, a coastline several kilometres long stretches between Houlgate and Auberville. The Falaises des Vaches Noires extend across the municipalities of Houlgate, Gonneville-sur-Mer, Auberville and Villers-sur-Mer.
Access to the Falaises des Vaches Noires is prohibited; however, the cliffs remain visible from the beach. At the foot of the Falaises des Vaches Noires, collecting fossils along the shore is permitted, while excavations are prohibited.

Culture
At the Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, Romanesque windows and herringbone masonry support dating the nave walls to the 12th century. The Sainte-Honorine spring below the church of Gonneville-sur-Mer is said to cure eye diseases.
