Chicheboville: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Nature and trails
The Marais alcalin de Chicheboville-Bellengreville is open for walks and hikes. The C10 circular trail of the Communauté de communes Val-ès-Dunes, entitled „Au coeur d'un marais alcalin“, crosses the marsh. It is 9.2 kilometres long, takes 2 hours and 30 minutes, and is marked in yellow.
The Marais alcalin de Chicheboville-Bellengreville has an observation station, information panels and directional arrows; the paths are maintained by the municipalities. Nature events for school groups and the general public are organised there every year.
Renting a holiday apartment in Chicheboville can be part of planning your stay.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint Martin of Chicheboville faces west. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Béneauville has Romanesque capitals, including a depiction of the martyrdom of Saint Blandina.
The Château de Béneauville combines architectural elements of the Renaissance and Classicism. The present Château de Béneauville was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The lead roof ornaments of the Château de Béneauville are listed in the register of historic monuments.
Around 1890, the foundations of an earlier church or chapel were discovered near the present-day church of Chicheboville, and Merovingian sarcophagi were excavated.
Geographical setting
The area designated as a Site d’Intérêt Communautaire, Marais alcalin de Chicheboville-Bellengreville, covers 154 hectares and extends across Moult-Chicheboville, Bellengreville and Vimont. The ground beneath Chicheboville lies in a zone geologically dated to the Bathonian.
