Culture and History

By decree of 20 January 1986, the Chapelle Saint-Roch was listed as a historic monument. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Roch and dates back to a plague epidemic. During the Revolution, it was saved by women from the village.

The church of Vaulx dates from the 18th century. A tombstone of Joseph Puchelle records that he died on 26 October 1876 as parish priest of Vaulx.

A coat of arms associated with the De La Porte family is carved into Vaulx Castle. This family came into possession of the Vaulx estate in 1402; their seigneurial rule there lasted until the Revolution.

The territory of the municipality of Vaulx belongs to the ZNIEFF “La moyenne vallée de l'Authie et ses versants entre Beauvoir-Wavans et Raye-sur-Authie”.

The circular hiking route known as “La randonnée des aubépines” starts at the football stadium in Auxi-le-Château, passes through the rural surroundings of Auxi-le-Château, and names Vaulx, Le Ponchel and Willencourt as places along the loop.
