History

At the Maisoncelle V1 site, an entrance storage building, the foundations of a ski-shaped storage shelter, the concrete foundations of the launch ramp, a water reservoir and other concrete foundations have been preserved.

The former V1 site in Maisoncelle is now occupied by pastureland; at least one building is used as a storage shed and workshop.

The Maisoncelle observation tower, also known as the flight watchtower, is a war relic from the Second World War at Les Haies d’Herlecamps on the RD 104. It was part of a network of air observation posts that extended as far as Dunkirk.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Maisoncelle was built in 1959 by the architects Jean Bureau and Henri Frey. It stands on the site of a 16th-century church that was destroyed in the bombings of December 1943.

In the 19th century, a landscaped park was created around the Château de Tramecourt. In 1740, a pleasure palace made of brick and stone was built at the Château de Tramecourt. The protected Château de Tramecourt complex includes a documented component in Maisoncelle on cadastral plots A 62 and A 63.

Landscape

Maisoncelle is included in the ZNIEFF area “Vallée de la Ternoise et ses versants de St-Pol à Hesdin et le vallon de Bergueneuse”. The landscape includes forests, dry grasslands, meadows and wooded margins, as well as numerous pleasant walking trails.

Trails and Battlefield

The route to the battlefield is signposted and can be reached by bus, car, bicycle or on foot.

The Tour du champ de Bataille d’Azincourt passes through Maisoncelle; information panels explain the course of the battle. The circuit is easy, 5.4 kilometres long and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The Sentier Henry V is a 12-kilometre hiking trail lasting approximately three hours through the surroundings of the Battle of Agincourt.
