The small Le Faux River rises in Heuchin, and the village is partly located in the Faux valley. The Faulx watercourse runs through Heuchin and is 5.35 km long. Ternois offers a varied landscape with wooded and hilly areas, waterways, and a rich diversity of fauna and flora.

The La Fontaine aux Faux route is a 7 km circular trail marked in yellow. It leads to a viewpoint on Mont d’Anvin overlooking the Ternoise and Bliot valleys. The GRP Tour du Ternois Nord also runs through Heuchin.

Along the La Fontaine aux Faux route, after crossing the Faux River, you will find the small “Sculptures et jardin” garden, which has been awarded the “Jardins des Hauts de France” designation. The Fontaine aux Fous is a spring in a wild ravine associated with a medieval legend.

Culture and History

At the Église Saint-Martin in Heuchin, the first two bays of the nave, the west façade, and the northern transept arm are protected by registration as a historic monument. The main construction phases of the Église Saint-Martin in Heuchin date from the 11th and 12th centuries and the second quarter of the 17th century; one construction phase is recorded for 1630.

The Église Saint-Martin in Heuchin is one of the rare examples of Romanesque architecture in Pas-de-Calais.
