History

The fortified Église Sainte-Pétronille was built between 1493 and 1531. The church contains a bell dating from 1564, which has been protected as an object under the Monuments historiques since 1 May 1908. The Église Saint-Eloi in Westbécourt was founded in the 12th century, while the Chapelle du Sacré-Cœur was built as an oratory in 1824.

Fort d’Acquin was built in the 15th century as a refuge for the inhabitants and their livestock, to protect them from English incursions during the Hundred Years’ War.

Trails and activities

Le Val d’Acquin is a 9.6 km circular hiking trail starting in Acquin-Westbécourt. The “Rendez-vous en patrimoine inconnu” route is designed for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders. It includes 13 information panels installed in the village, including one at the starting point.

The Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club in Acquin-Westbécourt has two golf courses.
