Nature and trails
The Circuit des plaideurs is a 10.2-kilometre circular trail with a walking time of around three hours. It starts at the Place de Taisnières-en-Thiérache. Along its route, it crosses the Helpe Majeure and passes through the Avesnois bocage, as well as along small country roads and unpaved paths.
The circular discovery trail “Trésors cachés en Cœur Avesnois” also passes through Taisnières-en-Thiérache. In its three municipalities, this circular trail leads to churches, two mills, chapels and oratories.
The Avesnois Regional Nature Park is characterised by bocage meadows, deciduous forests, flowering orchards and winding rivers.

Culture and history
The fort of Taisnières-en-Thiérache was built in 1559 to protect the inhabitants and demolished in 1769. Ruins of an old fort are still visible in Taisnières-en-Thiérache.
The present-day Church of Saint Martin in Taisnières-en-Thiérache was built in several phases during the 18th century. Its tower was constructed in 1724, and the choir was completed in 1760. The church has a 41-metre-high spire; inside, there is a Corinthian high altar dating from 1783.
Taisnières-en-Thiérache has 13 oratories and one chapel. The Oratoire N.D. Auxiliatrice et St Etton was built in 1749 at the beginning of Rue de Dompierre in the hamlet of Les Catiaux.
The mill of Taisnières-en-Thiérache won first prize in a competition established by the Nord Departmental Council for the restoration of rural heritage and is one of the representative buildings of the Ancien Régime. The existence of a mill in Taisnières-en-Thiérache has been documented since 1131. It had two wheels, each of which powered a millstone; the two waterwheels were restored in 1995.
