Culture and history

The Fort de Leveau was built between 1882 and 1884 as part of General Séré de Rivières' fortification plan and is located in the immediate vicinity of Feignies. The Fort des Sarts is also located in the immediate vicinity of Feignies.

The complex “Bains douches, école primaire et poste, actuellement école primaire Marie-Curie” was first planned in 1928 based on a design by the architect Adolphe Danis. In this complex, the former post office at the corner of Rue de la République and Rue Alfred-Derkenne connects the former bathhouse operation on Rue Alfred-Derkenne. The central avant-corps of the complex is designed in the Art Deco style.

A wooden footbridge with a viewing platform is also planned for the Coulée verte in order to enhance this water-oriented area.
