The Chemin des Galibots is a 36-kilometre circular hiking trail in Dechy. It follows former railway lines of the Compagnie des mines d’Aniche, which once connected mines and spoil heaps in the Douaisis area.

Those choosing Déchy as their destination can plan to rent a holiday apartment for their stay.

Nature

The Dechy wetland covers approximately 147 hectares. Its restoration led to the discovery of rare and protected plant species such as the autumn crocus.

The municipality of Dechy, together with SNCF Réseau, has undertaken to restore the wetland, which had been dried out and impaired by human intervention; the municipal services worked on renewing the naturally growing flora.

Dechy’s preserved near-natural areas include Parc Louis Aragon and Étangs de la Motte. The Chemin des Galibots runs through Parc des Renouelles in Dechy.
