Paths
The Voie verte is suitable for walking and cycling and runs from Crayhof to Lac d’Armbouts-Cappel. It is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists; horses may use it exclusively on the green verges.
Nature
The Le Marais wetland covers 12,000 m² and includes a pond surrounded by reeds, bulrushes and sedges. It provides a refuge for wetland animals, including frogs, dragonflies, great crested grebes and marsh harriers. The wetland is intended for guided visits and educational workshops; it is not freely open to the public.
Culture and Science
The Palais de l'Univers et des Sciences features the permanent exhibition “MISSION ZÉRO – Dunkerque en action!”. It explores the planetary boundaries and the development of the Dunkerque area. The Palais offers scientific workshops on biodiversity, decarbonization, renewable energy, nutrition, the senses and breathing, as well as an ultra-high-definition planetarium.
The municipality wishes to promote Flemish culture; to this end, entrance signs bearing the inscription “KAPELLE-de-GROOTE” have been installed.
