The Malefayère route is a 9.4 km moderately difficult circular trail through the forest. It starts and ends at the car park below the village of Gijounet, follows the Sentier de la Portanelle and passes the ruins of Siane.
The greenway from Gijounet to Lacaune runs along the Gijou on the former railway line of the “Petit Train”. It passes through shady stretches of forest in narrow, deeply cut valleys. At Gourp Fumant, the “Petit Train” greenway features a series of tunnels and viaducts.
Parking for the “Petit Train” greenway is available at the lieu-dit Combelaine in Gijounet (in the direction of Viane), at the salle des fêtes de Gijounet and at the Pont de Carausse car park (D81). LiO bus routes 763 and 766 stop in Gijounet.
Culture
The Notre-Dame Church in Gijounet was built in 1872. The bell tower of Notre-Dame Church was completed in 1890.
