Vaour is home to the Commanderie des Templiers, founded around 1160 by soldier monks returning from the Crusades. The building was classified as a historic monument in 1909 and had a 19-metre-high keep.

The town’s cultural calendar includes L’Été de Vaour, a performing arts festival held every summer in Vaour, which began in 1986. Originally, the festival was dedicated to burlesque theatre; today, it includes circus, concerts and clown performances. The Commanderie des Templiers is set up as a venue for performances during the festival and is used for this purpose.

The L’Été de Vaour festival also features a Village Gourmand with local dishes. In Vaour’s church, the Centre d’Art Pôl Roux houses the Collection Pôl Roux, with around fifty works created to decorate the church.

Vaour is part of the Rézo Pouce carpooling network.

Nature

The Dolmen de Peyro Lebado, the largest dolmen in the Tarn, is located near Vaour. On the return journey, the Circuit VTT n°22 Vaour-Milhars passes the Dolmen de Vaour.
