Culture and History

The Église Saint-Perdufle de la Masse is a Romanesque religious building dating from the 13th century, with a simple nave, a rectangular apse and tempera paintings from the early 16th century. The Château des Junies is privately owned and has been listed as a historic monument since 21 October 1925.

The Maison Cavaillé has a Saracen chimney and was classified as a historic monument on 15 April 1931. The Saint-Martin church in Canourgues has been listed as a historic monument since 11 July 1973 and probably dates from the first half of the 13th century; significant painted decoration was added during alterations at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century.

The château in Les Junies features construction phases from the 13th and 14th centuries as well as from the late 15th and early 16th centuries; its present appearance is mainly the result of reconstruction after the Hundred Years’ War. Les Junies’ rural heritage includes bread ovens, aqueducts and huts.

The church of La Masse has an imposing bell gable and late medieval wall paintings.
