Montgaillard: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Montgaillard, a viewing point offers views of the Pic du Midi mountain range. The village is characterised by small lanes lined with pebble walls and short footpath sections known as “goulets”. The 19th-century houses are also worth seeing.

Those combining Montgaillard with the Sentier Pieds Nus, Saint-Hilaire and Biscuiterie Védère may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.

Nature and trails

The Sentier Pieds Nus is a 1 km barefoot trail that runs along a stream through a protected forest. Its grounds include a pond, landscaped huts and creative play areas for clay work and land art. Visitors can also walk along the Adour in Montgaillard.

The A2 Les Coteaux circular trail offers numerous views of the valley and the Adour plain. The A3 Les Jambous circular trail ends with a steep climb and a panorama at Les Jambous. The A1 Les Puyolles circular trail first offers a view of the Vallée des Gaves and then of the plain around Tarbes.

Village character and culture

The parish church of Saint-Hilaire in Montgaillard houses the painting “Le Christ sur la croix. La Madeleine et la Vierge sont à ses pieds”. The Pont du Diable connects the two parts of the village.

Védère and connections to the outside world

At Biscuiterie Védère, a BB4240 locomotive built in Tarbes in 1934 is on display. Visitors can sample specialities there in an SNCF carriage converted into a tea room. Biscuiterie Védère continues a tradition dating back to 1905 and offers jams, cakes, biscuits and other pastries.

The Montgaillard–Centre bus stop is less than a ten-minute walk from Védère Boutique and is served by the Tarbes–Bagnères-de-Bigorre–La Mongie routes.
