Culture and History

The Église Saint-Brice Sainte-Catherine, including its murals, has been listed as a historic monument by decree of 6 March 1989.

The Chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Guchen was built on the initiative of Benoît Rolland and blessed on Sunday, 5 August 1906, by Vicar General Théas. It is a large Neo-Romanesque chapel with a semicircular apse and a single-nave, rib-vaulted body.

In the 16th century, the Maison du Procureur belonged to a respected family from Guchen. Its street façade features a half-timbered upper storey and a tall tower. The Maison du Procureur is also a stop on the historical tour through Guchen.

The municipality of Guchen lies in the accession area of the Parc national des Pyrénées and within the area of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre International Dark Sky Reserve. Guchen is also located at the foot of Pic d'Arbizon.

The event “Du crépuscule à l'aurore entre la hourquette d'Ancizan et le col d'Aspin” starts in the village of Guchen and can be undertaken on foot or with snowshoes, depending on the snow conditions.
