The Maison des Lys was built at the end of the 16th century and is classified as a historic monument. Its main façade features half-timbering with lilies carved in relief.

The Église Notre-Dame d’Arreau is classified as a historic monument and houses a 16th-century Pietà. The Chapelle Saint-Exupère is also classified as a historic monument. Its Romanesque porch dates from the 10th to the 12th century. The chapel, also known as the Église Saint-Exupère, also has a 12th-century Romanesque entrance with six columns and figuratively decorated capitals.

Paths and activities

In summer, Arreau offers numerous hiking trails for family walks. The Chemin du Plateau heritage trail begins at the Château des Nestes; information panels about the significant buildings are located along the route in Arreau.

The Boucle de Sarthol mountain-bike route begins at the Place d’Arreau. Rafting and canoeing can be tried on the rivers in Arreau. The fishing association of Arreau issues the permits and cards required for trout fishing.

Arreau lies at the confluence of the Neste d’Aure and the Neste du Louron. An open-air market is held in Arreau on Thursdays. Organised by the Association Auroise, the Fête du Gâteau à la Broche was a popular festival held at the end of July in the Pays d’Arreau.
