The Ferme de Solamoure preserves a diverse agro-pastoral habitat mosaic made up of grassland and meadows, shrubland, forests, hedgerows, rows of trees and old ponds.

The Ferme de Solamoure is home to more than 200 plant species and 201 animal species, including 18 species requiring a high level of protection or conservation.

The Ferme Soulamour is a restored ensemble of vernacular buildings; the authenticity of the materials was preserved during its restoration. It is situated amid 22 hectares managed by the Conservatoire d’espaces naturels Midi-Pyrénées.

Culture and History

The Saint-André church in Coueilles houses the painting “Christ en croix entre la Vierge et saint Jean”. The work is registered as a protected movable object; its protection was established on 8 April 1991. It dates from the 19th century, although it was executed in the style of the 17th century.

A chrism dating from the 11th or 12th century can also be seen in the Saint-André church in Coueilles.

In 1973, a stone attributed to the 13th century was found in the cemetery of Coueilles. One side bears the cross of the Counts of Toulouse with twelve points; the reverse shows a fleur-de-lis, described as a symbol of royal power.

Event and Cycling Route

The annual village festival in Coueilles includes a commemorative ceremony at the war memorial.

The cycling route “À vélo entre le Comminges et le Gers” passes through Coueilles and the Aussoue Valley. It is approximately 63 kilometres long and includes around 839 metres of ascent.
