Culture

The village of Crastes was formerly fortified and surrounded by ditches. Saint-Pierre Church was built on an old motte. Its bell tower has two bells dated 1596; these two 1596 bells are classified as protected cultural objects.

At the Chapelle de Mons in Crastes, a Gallo-Roman milestone was reused as a support for the holy-water font; it is classified as a protected object. Associated with the Chapelle Saint-Joseph in Crastes is the polychrome wooden sculptural group “The Flight into Egypt”. The Musée du train et du jouet ancien is housed in a former village school and displays an extensive collection of old games, toys, dolls and trains. The museum offers individual guided tours on request and is independently accessible to wheelchair users.

A 9.2 km PR walking trail starts at the town hall in Mirepoix; the Chapelle de Mons in Crastes lies along its route.
